Nominating Committee Selected

Aloha USTA Ohana,

 

The USTA Hawaii Pacific Section would like to announce the results of the 2017 Nominating Committee election. The following individuals have been selected: 

 

Leonard Loventhal

Leonard is presently a Senior Vice President & Loan Manager at Honolulu HomeLoans and oversees the company’s Aiea Branch.  He is a proud alumni of Jarrett Middle School, Kaimuki High School, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Hawaii as a Mathematics major.

 

Leonard has spent over 23 years in the mortgage banking industry with Honolulu Mortgage, Bank of Hawaii, Hawaii HomeLoans, and most recently Central Pacific HomeLoans.  He is also a regular instructor for HBR’s Essentials of Finance, and GRI’s Finance courses.

 

When not assisting Realtors, homebuyers, and homeowners with their financing needs, Leonard enjoys spending time playing tennis, hiking, and traveling – much of which is documented on his Facebook page. 

He is currently serving as President of the Jarrett Middle School Foundation, and Chairman of the USTA Hawaii Pacific Section Adult League Committee as well as a frequent participant in USTA leagues and tournaments.  Leonard is also a board member of the Hawaii Pacific Tennis Foundation.

 

John Nelson

John Nelson has been at the helm of the University of Hawai‘i men’s tennis team since the 2003-04 season. After years of building the program with top-flight recruits and instilling a winning attitude in his players, the program has reaped the benefits with three Western Athletic Conference titles, one Big West Conference title and four NCAA Tournament appearances.

 

Masu Dyer

For over 20 years, she has served on various USTA National Committees, which help determine the direction of tennis in the United States. Masu has won various USTA Hawaii Pacific Section awards such as the Special Service Award and President's Award. She also has the "Masu Kusume Dyer Outdoor Sports Center" in honor of her at the Le Jardin Academy in Kailua. Masu has been a huge asset to Hawaii tennis and will likely continue her services for many years to come.

 

 

Randy Kop

Randy Kop, a former Hawaii State Junior and Open Champion and standout for the University of Hawaii-Manoa Men’s Tennis Team and is currently in his seventeenth year as the director of tennis at the Waialae Country Club. Randy is certified by the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) as an Elite Professional.  In 2002 Randy was named the Hawaii Division Pro of the year. In 2011 Randy and his Family received the USTA/HPTA Family of the year award. Randy is married to the former Norma Garcia de la Cruz and has three children Davis, Roman and Kaimele, who all played competitive tennis in Hawaii. 

 

Hendrik Bode
Bode is currently in his 6th season as the Head Men’s Tennis Coach at Hawaii Pacific University. Their team has most recent
ly won their first national championship in men’s tennis after finishing as the runner-up for 2 consecutive years. He has received the honor of being named ITA National Coach of the Year in 2015, as well as being named West Region and PACWEST Coach of the Year. Bode's consistently involved with Junior Development through the USTA for almost 10 years and have served as the Chair for the Coaches Committee for the Hawaii Pacific Section. He currently also works with some of the top juniors in the state of Hawaii.
