Ron Romano
Executive Director

Ron Romano was the #1 player for the first high school tennis team at Wall Township High School in New Jersey.  He played tennis for Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and played in the Middle Atlantic Conference NCAA Division II championships his sophomore year.  Ron has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Moravian College and an MBA from Touro College in New York.  After college, Ron was a tennis professional for 12 years including five years with Peter Burwash International.  He was the Head Professional/Director of Tennis at four of the top 50 tennis resorts in the world, including Caneel Bay Plantation in the U.S Virgin Islands, Mauna Lani Bay Hotel, Mauna Kea Beach Resort and the Westin Kauai in Hawaii.  Ron then became the Vice President of Operations at Kauai Lagoons Resort and the General Manager of the Sheraton Makaha Resort and the Kauai Coconut Beach Resort.  Ron is a certified USPTA Professional 1 and USPTR Professional level tennis professional. Madeleine Dreith

Madeleine Dreith was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, graduated from Punahou School and received a Bachelor of Arts in Design/Fine Arts from UCLA.  Having worked in office supply retail management for over 15 years, both in Los Angeles and Hawaii, Madeleine has experience in project development, purchasing, merchandising, event planning and promotions/marketing.  These skill sets were easily transferred into her present responsibility that involves developing, servicing and promoting community tennis programs.  Instead of pens and paper, she enjoys people and parks.  Founder of the Kilauea Jr. Tennis Club, Madeleine oversees 150 plus youngsters and their families.  Known as the Pied Piper of Tennis, you will find her every weekend with a trail of kids following her at a local park.  Madeleine is a certified PTR Professional and USPTA member. Mimi Kennell

Mimi Kennell has an extensive background as a player, coach and teacher.  She was born and raised in Taiwan and was the #1 junior player and the #3 open player in her country.  Prior to her collegiate career Mimi played on the WTA tour.  Mimi went on to play for BYU Hawaii and was part of the NCAA II National Championship team in 1997.  Mimi has coached at Kamehameha, Iolani and Pearl Harbor.  She is a certified USPTA and PTR professional and has a Master of Education degree in Secondary Education.  Before working at the USTA Hawaii Pacific Section she was a physical education teacher at Waipahu Intermediate School. Sara M. Yoshinaga

Sara was born and raised in Hawaii and has previously worked with the USTA Hawaii Pacific Section in a number of capacities. She is a high school gradute of Iolani School. She then attended college at the University of Redlands and received a bachelors of science degree in business. While at the University of Redlands, Sara competed on the women's vartsity tennis teams and was a member of the All-Conference 2nd team and the recipient of the 2009 Most Improved Award. Sara comes to the USTA from KMH LLP, where she was a human resource and tax assistant for four years. Concurrently, Sara has been the main Adult League Local League Coordinator on Oahu for the USTA. Start Year: 2017

Ryan Trujillo

Ryan Trujillo was born and raised in Honolulu, graduated from the University Laboratory School and attended the University of Redlands with the Servco Fukunaga Business Scholarship achieving his degree in Business Administration. Returning to Hawaii, he worked at Diamond Bakery as Sales and Marketing Associate. Previously, Ryan was also on the USTA Hawaii roster of coaches that taught kids in the Play To Learn Tennis and Summer Fun Mobile Tennis programs. As a junior player, his team won an USTA  National Jr. Team Tennis event and represented Hawaii as a member of the Jr. Davis Cup Team. He also won the USTA Hawaii Jim Howe Sportsmanship Award. Outside of tennis, Ryan is the band leader of the local Hawaiian reggae band, The Hydrolites, where he plays the ukulele and sings. Kim Kinberg

Kim Kinberg has a long history of tennis in her life. She played tennis for San Diego State and was a member of the D-1 tennis team. She was a health and science teacher at Calabasas High School where she was the boys and girls high school tennis coach for 10 years after college. In 2004, the Girls tennis team were the Division 1 champions. Kinberg was also a teacher and high school tennis coach at the Nile C. Kinnick School in Yokosuka, Japan. In 2004, she was the Los Angeles Daily New's Coach of the Year. Kinberg is a member of the USTA, a certified USPTA professional, and is currently rated as a 5.0 player. She has previously worked for the USTA Hawaii Pacific Section at the Schools Tennis Organzer and Play to Learn instructor. Start Year: 2016


Jony Conching

Jony Conching was born and raised on the East Coast, graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fashion Marketing, got tired of the cold weather and bought a one way ticket to Honolulu sight unseen!  After learning to play tennis at the ripe old age of 38, she and husband Lee, daughter Lauren, and son Stephen have been hooked ever since. Jony enjoys playing adult, mixed leagues and recreational tennis at the Oahu Club in Hawaii Kai.  Jony has managerial experience in retail and spent seven years at an Architectural firm where she was the Office Manager for four of those seven years.  When the position of Office Manager became available in 2006 at USTA Hawaii Pacific Section she jumped at the opportunity and has enjoyed it ever since. Fay Sakamoto
Community Tennis Coordinator

Fay Sakamoto is the Community Tennis Coordinator for the USTA Hawaii Pacific Section’s Play to Learn Tennis Lesson Program and manages online registration. She obtained an Associate of Arts Degree and Secretarial Degree at Leeward Community College.  Fay worked in retail and as a legal secretary at a law firm for eight years before joining the USTA Hawaii Pacific Section.  She was also involved as a Girl Scouts leader and a Creative Memories consultant. Her two children participated in the USTA Tennis 123 program (aka Play to Learn Tennis lesson program) and she herself participated in classes at Kahala Community Park.  She plays tennis three times a week and participates in league and community tennis events.
