So far, 2017 has been a great year for tennis. With the return of the Maui Challenger and Fed Cup, tennis was elevated yet again and Hawaii was put on the world stage. Here were some of the great benefits the tennis community received:



  • The SportMaster Tennis Championships of Maui
    • Andre Illagan (age 16, Farrington HS) qualifies for the Main Draw by winning the Wild Card Event. He is also the guest tournament pro at a tennis clinic for the Lahaina Boys and Girls Club in conjunction with the Community Involvement activities for the TCOM
    • School Day, 75 kids from Kahului Elementary visit the Challenger and meet Pro, Bradley Khlan
    • Kilauea Jr. Tennis Club brings 12 kids to Maui to serve as ball runners for two days
    • Keaulike High School tennis teams (12 players) serve as ball runners on the final day

  • The Fed Cup, USA vs Germany
    • 18 Maui Juniors are selected to be Fed Cup ball runners and practice at the Challenger
    • Fed Cup Kid’s Day – 80 kids ages 8-18 participate in clinic with USA Fed Cup Team
    • Juniors Tennis provides invitational high performance clinic on Friday at the Fed Cup, 12-14 kids  got to train with Kayla Day and National Coach Henner Niehls
    • 18 kids from Maui serve as ball runners for Fed Cup event
    • 200 tickets were given ‘free’ to local junior families including Lanai
